The “octopus haircut” is the new trend for super trendy haircuts. Brought to you by singer Billie Eilish let’s find out who it’s good for
The trendy cuts for spring summer 2022 are the octopus ones. That’s right: the octopus haircut has climbed to the top of trends by positioning itself among the most original and popular cuts, especially for young people who are always looking to stand out for their originality. Its origin is oriental: it became famous in Japan and Korea, and then successfully landed in the West.
Its name describes its essence very well: the octopus haircut features a round shape in the upper part of the head which, with a fine scaling of the hair, gradually degrades towards the ears; the lengths are instead arranged in locks that can reach up to the shoulders and beyond. To behold, it resembles a cephalopod!
Octopus haircut: the successor of the “mullet”
It is considered by many to be an extension of the cut called mullet, in vogue in the eighties and revived in recent times in often extreme interpretations, with parts shaved around the temples, or enhanced by colorful hues. This particular haircut, however, wants short hair on the top of the head and slim lengths on the shoulders.

The “octopus” haircut, on the other hand, is characterized by a camber, that is a very voluminous and round part, just like the body of an octopus. On the front, however, there is a fringe that can be short and swollen, or curtain, or even “frayed” and messy.
If you have been wearing long hair for a long time and you decide that the time has come to not only give a clean cut, but to show off a very original hairstyle, the octopus haircut is undoubtedly worth considering. In addition, once you leave the hair salon, the scaling allows you not to have to strain too much for styling, when you tackle it at home after washing your hair.

How to manage the octopus haircut independently?
With a round brush, to be passed while drying the top using a hairdryer, it is possible to add volume. The lengths, on the other hand, can be smoothed with the use of a hair straightener or, alternatively, curled with the special tool to give an even more original touch to the cut.
The products to be used must not weigh down the hair, especially in the upper part of the head: yes to shampoo and a heat protector before drying and styling, but no to conditioners and creams, or even mousse. The lengths, on the other hand, can possibly be treated with conditioner after shampooing.
If you have fine hair, nothing to fear: this cut can help with the effect scaling that makes the head fuller and fuller in volume. If, on the other hand, they are few, it is better not to risk a sparse effect with excessive scaling. Straight hair is also perfect for this cut, while for those who have curly it may not be so easy to make it and maintain it over time.
But who is the octopus haircut good for? If you have a round and full face, this cut can help slim with the uneven locks that frame your face. Even those with a very wide forehead can take advantage of the scaled fringe. On the other hand, this cut is not particularly suitable for those with a small face, because it risks emphasizing its small size even more.
