Mixed hair affects several women, but not all of them are aware of it. Let’s find out how to treat them properly, following simple tips.
Like facial skin, hair can also be mixed, but not all women know about it. For mixed hair we refer to hair that is greasy at the root, but with very dry ends. It is a problem shared by many women, especially those who have long and very long hair. The choice of specific products is really important, so as to rebalance both the root and the tips, you can also show off a perfect, bright and above all hydrated hair.
Let’s find out how to cure mixed hair, so as not to make mistakes.
Mixed hair: how to take care
Mixed hair must be treated differently, both the root and the tips, so to speak, if you use products for oily hair on the whole hair, including the lengths, these will become very dry. In addition, the hair will weigh down and tend to get dirty in a short time.
Before shampooing, you need to prepare two different treatments, one for the skin and one for dry ends. Let’s find out everything you need to do to have perfect and well-groomed hair.
1- Eliminate excess sebum and moisturize the tips
For mixed hair you must buy a specific shampoo for oily root, always delicate so as to eliminate excess sebum. You can proceed with a scrub before shampooing, which will help eliminate excess oil and sometimes even dandruff. Here’s how to do it, the ingredients are:
- 1 organic conditioner
- sugar
- tea tree essential oil
In a bowl, mix the ingredients and apply on the scalp and massage gently, then rinse with plenty of water. Do it every week, then proceed with a not too aggressive shampoo, then after applying a conditioner, on the lengths it must be moisturizing.
Masks and wraps are perfect in these cases, such as a pack with egg yolk, white yogurt and flaxseed oil. Just mix all the ingredients in a small bowl, then apply them to all the hair and leave for about 20 minutes, it is recommended to wrap the hair with a film for food. Then rinse well your hair will be shiny and hydrated.
Another perfect solution in this case is the use of dry shampoo, but only when you have little time to take care of your hair. It is able to absorb excess sebum, only where it is needed, without allowing the tips and lengths to dehydrate.
2 – How to cure dry tips
The dry and brittle tips must be treated well, here are the tips to follow:
- shampoo twice a week: because if you wash your hair often, it tends to be more damaged.
- apply the conditioner only on the tips: always choose the natural ones;
- do not dry the hair with excessive temperature: it is important to keep the hairdryer 15 cm away from the head, and you must not stay too long on the same area;
- avoid wringing hair: the lengths and ends tend to dry out and break easily if you have the habit of wringing your hair with a towel;
- avoid making dyes often: it should be done once a month, always preferring natural ones;
- do not comb vigorously: combs with wide teeth are preferable, so avoid breaking them.
3- Make masks to moisturize the tips
Masks should be performed frequently, depending on the case, most of the time they must be followed every week. In particular, hair with dry ends is damaged especially in summer, because the hair is subject to frequent washing and then the salt and sun, further damages it. Here are some masks to perform at home.
Mask with olive oil and honey: prepare with only two ingredients 2 tablespoons of honey and 3 of olive oil, mix them well and then apply to the lengths and ends. Leave on for 20 minutes, then rinse very well and continue with a specific shampoo for mixed hair. These two oils have emollient, moisturizing and regenerating properties.
Honey and egg mask: mix them in a small bowl with just one yolk and a spoonful of honey, apply on the lengths and ends, then leave for 15 minutes. Rinse well, so as to eliminate all residues.
