In the summer, the hair loss process can be accelerated: very often, on vacation at the beach or in the mountains, the hair seems to be weakened and dull and is lost or broken in greater quantities than the rest of the year.
This phenomenon can affect both men and women of different age groups and can lead to causing various damage to their hair. But what are the causes?
The causes of hair loss in the summer
So losing hair in the summer is normal and it happens to more and more people, but what are the causes? The reasons for a sudden hair loss can be numerous and the factors that lead to this phenomenon are often different. Surely the use of some cosmetic products can lead to increase the dryness of the hair, weakening it or making the hair thinner and flatter.
Hair dryers at high temperatures and in direct contact with the hair can in fact lead to weakening it, as well as straighteners and curling irons that lead to dryness and split ends, which are the result of the hair becoming brittle.
However, among the causes of excessive hair loss in the summer there are many factors, first of all the sun’s rays. The latter can in fact dry out the hair considerably making it less hydrated. In addition, the increase in temperatures and the heat that characterizes different areas of Italy can lead to excessive sweating, which can ruin the scalp and, consequently, the hair.
The high temperature significantly alters the balance of the skin and can also lead to the formation of agents such as fungi that weaken the hair. Finally, factors such as salt, salt water from the sea, swimming pool chlorine and sand can lead to worsening and increased hair loss.
Remedies for hair loss in the summer
To prevent hair loss in summer, therefore, behaviors capable of preventing the phenomenon must be adopted. Among these there is first of all hydration of the skin, which can be guaranteed through the use of specific products, or simply by washing the hair very well, perhaps using natural oils capable of hydrating deeply without making the skin greasy.
On the other hand, you should not make the mistake of washing your hair excessively, as the continuous use of washing products could alter the pH of the skin.
Hydration is also important from the inside, so it is advisable to consume a greater amount of water than in the winter months, reaching even two liters per day. For the same reason, it is advisable to avoid fatty foods, preferring fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and water.
