Each hairdresser has his own technique, but giving light to the hair is still a fixed point. As for the color for autumn-winter we are talking about naturalness, richness of reflections, skilfully colored hair… in short, we are talking about balayage, ombre, camouflage balayage, foilyage, and more color, contrast and shades! All hair stylist techniques, which you cannot do at home: let’s see what the best hairdressers offer on Instagram.
Balayage: new trends 2020
With the new lightening techniques all haircuts (from long to short or medium) gain charm and brilliance and certainly also in style, given that the trend of giving light and discharging the hair – creating new colors with degradé contrasts or clear and decisive – continues even in winter. Here are the best photos and ideas to copy based on your hair color.
Balayage brown and dark hair
The hair of a deep and rich brown is always on the podium, and it is also in the hair trends 2020 2021. To revive the monochrome effect and enhance the reflections, the lightening obtained with balayage is an excellent idea and helps to renew your style without revolutionizing your… blackberry identity.
Check out this light balayage with shades of mahogany red on long dark hair with almost natural waves, created with the straightener to make the hair shiny.
Here the base color is a warm brown on which the hair colorist has applied copper blonde lightening to then obtain an effect tone, enhanced by the wave fold.
Caramel balayage
This is an easy color with a natural effect: the balayage on brown hair with caramel shades gives light to the hair without exaggerating the contrast.
Not only waves but also straight hair, caramel balayage a color that illuminates a dark and long brown hair. Here is the example in the photo.
Camouflage balayage
This instead is the new balayage, what hairstylists call camouflage balayage, even if in essence it is the same thing: here the dark root is actually blonde in contrast with wavy platinum hair. Definitely impressive!
Beautiful and to try this cold blond foilyage on a brown base. Here several different shades have been used depending on the area: this creates a very… autumnal effect of shadows and lights. The scaled cut that makes the hair thinner at the bottom enhances the color.
Blond balayage and lightening of light hair
If you are blonde can you do balayage anyway? Of course yes! The beauty of the balayage technique is that it can be done on any base and on any cut: your honey blonde can become a platinum-golden at the tips, for example. If you are darker, you can still “add” the blonde on the tips.
Just remember to contact a competent hairdresser, who knows how to evaluate the degree of coldness of your base shade, to give the hair the right contrast between the various shades of blond.
Here we see a balayage on a blonde base and platinum blonde shades on the tips. A color that is enhanced by the movement of the hairstyle.
Red balayage
Red is definitely the king in terms of winter 2019 hair color, and if you are in the mood for copper highlights, you can certainly try the coppery balayage in its various variations. It works both by starting with a natural red and by dyeing the lengths.
From red to blonde – this effect is beautiful! In this case the play of tones is dense and starts from the root: it is managed by small locks in order to give a mélange of reflections along the entire length, which become more and more uniform towards the light tips.
You need to have thick and long hair (or extensions) and the right character to show off a hair color with strong contrasts like this intense red with golden blonde shades on the wavy hair.
Hair with dark roots and locks colored with shades of mahogany red or bright red is also very fashionable as you can see on this red ombre.
Here the lightening technique of the locks uses different shades of coppery tint for a luminous effect: the base turns more towards plum and the tangerine-colored light is concentrated towards the center and the tips, combed in natural waves.
To revive a slightly dull brown, instead of cutting you can try to illuminate the hair with cinnamon and Titian red reflections as you see in this proposal.
Balayage – foilyage on short and medium hair
It is true, you have certainly seen among the 2020 hair trends many long hair, with soft tips that fall beyond the shoulders … but balayage can be done on short medium or scaled hair and on the most fashionable cuts, a length is enough ear to get a good result.
On a choppy yoke here is a balayage-ombre with mahogany red highlights. This solution greatly enhances both the type of cut and the slightly “disheveled” styling, which would risk losing its bite without a color that highlights it.
A blonde balayage gives a lot of movement to a medium straight cut like this one. Then comb them with wax or a cream oil to keep these waves as fresh out of the salon.
A smooth bob short in back and long in front lightened rejuvenates the face. Here the blond is light and almost hides the base, which however “pops up” every time the locks move.
To enhance a bob with waves, coppery highlights on a dark brown base were used. This is a much loved cut since last season and definitely takes on character with this play of color and texture.
To follow the latest winter 2019 hair trend, there are silver ombre-balayage hair with a marked difference, which lightens up to platinum. The waves are not insidpensible: even smoothed to the plate would be equally beautiful.
An even newer idea? These pink shades on a dark brown base and medium cut, also trendy for autumn winter. If you want to try it, remember to feed your hair regularly so it doesn’t look too dry.
Because balayage is comfortable to handle
An advantage of balayage for the undecided is that the darker regrowth does not “ruin” the work: if you get bored of the shades, you can simply let your hair grow without continuing with the lightening and you will not risk any unsightly effect, nor will you be forced to cut drastic to get rid of the tint.
The difference between balayage, ombre hair, streaks and shatush
These are all techniques for creating color shades, but the difference lies in the way they are made and consequently in the final effect. Balayage is done by dividing the hair into five sections and on each by applying the lightening product with a brush, according to a star shape.
Ombre hair is a nuanced discoloration that creates “tactical” shadows using two or at most three shades that slope from dark to light; it is a slightly different practice from balayage hair lightening because it is obtained by “drawing” a V with the brush on the tips of the individual strands.
The effect of the ombre hair is natural and light, more gradual than shatush (which instead generates a clearer and straighter discoloration on all ends) and can be done on any base.
The streaks, that is, the highlights, are finally discolored locks in contrast, decidedly lighter than the base and generally treated along the entire length; are those that are made by making the individual locks come out of a perforated cap, so to speak.
